Deputy Director- Communications and Partnerships
Mallika Tharakan is a Deputy Director, Community Mobilisation and Innovations at KHPT.
Her core areas of support are in developing programme strategy and planning, communication, community mobilisation, advocacy and capacity building in the areas of HIV/ AIDS prevention, maternal neonatal and child health, nutrition, community institution building, and prevention of violence against women, and adolescent girl’s education and health. She has led strengthening of decentralised approaches through grassroot community structures for enhancing health and nutrition outcomes in rural Karnataka. Her prior stint as a reporter with the New Indian Express enabled her to be actively involved in developing media advocacy strategies for mainstreaming of marginalised groups within the HIV/AIDS programme.
Earlier at KHPT, she has successfully managed the positions of Communication officer and Community Mobilisation Manager. She has held leadership roles in the implementation of projects supporting field level teams closely.
She is a social scientist with a Master’s Degree in Social work from the Tata Institute of Social Work (TISS). She has to her credit several programme publications, abstracts and community centric tools and manuals.
