The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and KHPT have entered into a strategic partnership with the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Government of Himachal Pradesh, through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to initiate and expand wheat flour fortification statewide. The MoU, signed by Shri Ram Kumar Gautam (Director of the Department), Mr. Mohan H. L. (CEO, KHPT) and Dr. Supreet Kaur (Head of Policy, Programs, and External Relations, GAIN), marks a significant step towards advancing large-scale wheat flour fortification in the state.
This collaboration aims to strengthen government-led nutrition programs by enhancing the quality and accessibility of fortified wheat flour distributed through public welfare schemes. KHPT is supporting the initiative by facilitating coordination, technical assistance, and implementation in alignment with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines. As part of its broader effort, KHPT is catalyzing the scale-up of staple food fortification across many states in India by engaging closely with government stakeholders and industry partners.
Through this partnership, the organizations are working collectively to improve nutrition security and contribute to better health outcomes for communities across Himachal Pradesh.
