KHPT’s Urban Health thematic team showcased a poster at the Global Climate and Health Alliance’s (GCHA) first Annual Virtual Climate and Health Global Meeting 2026 on 22 October 2026. The poster presentation followed the acceptance of a case report abstract documenting a participatory workshop conducted in Gottigere, Bengaluru, to identify local climate and health priorities.
The workshop brought together community groups and health facility staff to map local risks and assets and identify key concerns through seasonal calendars, participatory mapping and prioritisation exercises. The process highlighted challenges related to waste dumping, blocked drains, seasonal disease risks, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and access to healthcare. It resulted in a locally validated list of priorities and a draft community risk and asset map.
The case report highlighted the importance of climate and health literacy, community-led environmental mapping, and sustained dialogue through existing community structures to strengthen local understanding and collective action on climate-related health challenges.
