KHPT, in collaboration with KMC Foundation and with the support of The State Family Welfare Bureau (SFWB) Pune and FMCH, conducted the 1st State-Level KMC Cross-Learning Workshop at Government Medical College, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), organized by the Department of Neonatology.

Renowned KMC experts, including Dr. Shashi N. Vani, Dr. Rekha Udani, Dr. Nikhil Kharod and Dr. Deshmukh L appreciated the participatory approach, which emphasized real-life experiences over traditional didactic sessions. Healthcare professionals (Doctors – Neonatologists, Pediatricians and Medical Officers, Staff Nurses, NICU and SNCU staff in-charge) and representatives from NNF and IAP actively engaged in contextual technical discussions, experiential sharing and collaborative planning to improve newborn care.

Facility nurses and doctors shared their on-ground KMC experiences, while experts provided practical guidance to strengthen implementation. Dr. Prarthana, Thematic Lead – Child Health and Nutrition at KHPT, highlighted the challenges of continuing KMC at home after discharge, discussing the difficulties mothers face in providing KMC in household settings and sharing insights on potential solutions to better support families.

The workshop concluded with a summary of key learnings, discussions on the way forward, and certificate distribution to participants.
