KHPT, in collaboration with the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA), Maharashtra, conducted a State-Level Sensitization and Awareness Campaign on Food Fortification for Food Safety Officers, Assistant Commissioners of Food, and Designated Officers in Nashik on 6 June 2026.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of Large-Scale Staple Food Fortification (LSFF), Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, recent developments in food fortification, and the role of Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) in promoting fortified foods.

More than 130 officials from across Maharashtra participated in the event. The sessions focused on the public health importance of food fortification, regulatory frameworks, compliance and monitoring mechanisms, and effective communication strategies to increase awareness and acceptance of fortified foods.

The event provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and reinforced the commitment of regulatory officials towards advancing food fortification initiatives to address micronutrient deficiencies and improve nutrition outcomes across the state.
