Ms. Isobel Coleman, Deputy Administrator, USAID, and Ms Karen Klimowski, Deputy Mission Director, USAID-India, visited the BTB project site at Herohalli, Bengaluru on June 10 to gain insights into how KHPT is using a community engagement approach to develop local solutions to end TB.

As part of the site visit, the KHPT team took the USAID delegation through an exhibition of community structure engagement initiatives, behaviour change solutions, and Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) engagement efforts. The delegation also interacted with community stakeholders, including Self-Help Group members, a TB Champion, Gram Panchayat members and frontline health workers to understand how each one of them is contributing to ending TB. They also interacted with the driver of a health auto, one of the behaviour change solutions which helps address the hidden costs of travel for persons with TB (PwTBs).
