Dr. Ashwini Pujar, Qualitative Research Manager, and Dr. Maithreyi Ravikumar, Lead Women’s Health, were invited as resource persons to conduct a training titled “From Field to Findings: A Practical Workshop on Qualitative Research”, organised by the NIMS Institute of Public Health and Governance on 14 March 2026.
As part of their sessions, Dr. Pujar and Dr. Ravikumar shared insights on diverse qualitative methodologies and approaches. These included the use of audio diaries to understand lived experiences related to maternal health, rapid ethnography combined with tools such as concept cards and card sorting activities to explore community centred perspectives on gender-based violence, and youth centred participatory workshops using principles of Human Centred Design to examine young people’s experiences with digital technologies.
Through their sharing, they also highlighted KHPT’s extensive field-based experiences and drew attention to key principles of qualitative research in practice, including positionality, power, and self-reflexivity.
The workshop saw diverse participation from research scholars, faculty members, and medical doctors from both Indian and international institutions, including King Faisal University, MAHE Manipal, NIMS University, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, ICMR, and the World Bank, to name a few.
