KHPT launched the Sukshema project on 22 January 2026 at the District Health Office, Vijayanagar, marking the beginning of a three-year initiative to improve the health and empowerment of adolescent girls, young women, mothers and children through a lifecycle approach.

The event was attended by key district leaders, including the Deputy Commissioner, CEO, DHO, RCHO, and officials from the Women and Child Development Department. Dr. Prarthana presented the project vision, emphasizing its focus on adolescent health, creation of safe learning spaces and holistic development through an empowerment-based framework. District leaders highlighted pressing challenges such as child marriage, teenage pregnancy, anaemia, malnutrition and high NMR and MMR, and assured full support for the programme. Sphoorthi girls shared inspiring experiences of community action in preventing child marriage, reducing school dropouts, and promoting nutrition.

Key recommendations included expanding the programme to Kudligi Taluk, giving special attention to adolescents in hostels and strengthening menstrual health awareness, reflecting strong inter-departmental commitment.
