Be bold for change – adolescent girls from project Sphoorthi celebrate Women’s Day in enthusiasm

International women’s day was celebrated in collaboration with other organizations working with women in Koppal district, Karnataka. Approx 800 adolescent girls and their mothers participated in the event. Girls were informed about the plan through messages by Sphoorthi in the month of February. Many girls responded back to Sphoorthi mentioning their consent to be involved in the event. A big rally was organized for 3 km that lasted for 2 hours in the main market of Koppal city which was inaugurated by Smt. G Shamala, a famous Telugu writer. The girls participated in the event with great enthusiasm and recited many slogans reinforcing messages of equity and change for the girl child. A stage program was also organized which was inaugurated by Smt. Kavita Krishnan, General Secretary, All India Progressive Women Forum.
