CAHR 2016- KHPT at the Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research

The 25th Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research – CAHR 2016 was held May 12 to 15, 2016 at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

With a theme of “Realizing Our Potential: Local to Global and Back”, CAHR 2016 had a stellar program of world-renowned speakers. The conference allowed participants to connect with researchers, frontline public health and community-based workers, policy makers, people living with HIV and AIDS and others interested in the field of HIV research.

The following three abstract titles were presented at the under different themes. The posters were viewed by community members, global health experts, practitioners and researchers.

  • Hammer and Baton in synergy: Forging Strategic Partnerships to reduce violence and stigma against Female Sex workers. Balasubramanya KV, Deputy Director (Advocacy), KHPT
  • Communicating with the community among poor literacy key populations. Balasubramanya KV, Deputy Director (Advocacy), KHPT
  • Strategies Addressing Intimate Partners Violence (IPV) Among Women in sex work – Incremental Reporting of Intimate Partner Violence Interfaced with HIV Risk. Sunitha BJ, Deputy Director (Programmes) KHPT.

Dr. Stephen Moses delivered the 2016 Wainberg Lecture “HIV Prevention: Local to Global and Back…to the Future.” The conference was attended by Dr. Shivahalli and Dr. Srinath Maddur.
